MyReFrame: privacy policy

What MyReFrame stores, what can leave your device, and how to reach us.

Last updated: October 2026

Introduction

Enlyzr ("we", "us") provides MyReFrame, an Android camera app for repeat photography: taking the same picture again, from the same place, to show what has changed. This Privacy Policy explains what the app stores, where it is kept, which permissions it asks for, and what can leave your device.

MyReFrame does its work on your device. We run no servers for the app, there are no user accounts, and the app sends nothing to us. It does not ask for Android's internet permission, so the app itself cannot open a network connection. Your data can still leave the device in a few ways that run through Android or through other apps: Android's own backup, the things you share or export yourself, and the map you open with the Navigate button. Each of them is described under What leaves your device.

Information the app stores

  • Reference photos and frames you take are saved to Pictures/MyReFrame/<project name> in your phone's shared photo storage. A small preview of each one is saved to a .thumbs folder inside it.
  • A photo you import as a reference is read when you pick it, and a copy of the picture is saved to the project's folder. Your original photo is not changed.
  • Exports: animated GIFs and side-by-side pictures are saved to Pictures/MyReFrame/<project name>, videos to Movies/MyReFrame/<project name>.

These folders are part of your phone's shared storage, like any other photo you take. Other apps that you have allowed to see your photos can read them, and a gallery app that backs photos up to a cloud may upload them. That is decided by the settings of those apps, not by MyReFrame.

What a photo file contains

A photo taken in the app is the file as your phone's camera produced it. It carries the data the camera writes into its pictures, typically the date and time, the make and model of the phone and the exposure settings. To the frames you take after the reference, the app adds the project's name as the picture's description and a note that the picture was made with MyReFrame. The app does not write your position into the photo file. The photo files are named with random identifiers; the folder they lie in carries the project's name.

The setting Strip metadata from captures is off until you turn it on. With it on, the frames you take from then on are saved without any of this embedded data. Frames saved as PNG never contain it. The setting does not apply to the reference photo of a project, which is always saved as the camera produced it, and it changes nothing in the project data described next.

Project data, in the app's own storage

The app keeps a database on your device, in storage that only the app can read:

  • Projects: the name you gave, when the project was created and last changed, which camera it uses (front or back), its cover picture and its Simple or Pro setting.
  • Frames: for every photo, when it was taken or imported, its place in the series, where its file lies, and the notes and star rating you gave it.
  • Capture data for each photo taken in the app: focal length, zoom, ISO, exposure time and the lens used; the direction the phone pointed and how it was tilted at that moment, from the phone's motion sensors; and, only if you allowed location, the position: latitude, longitude, altitude and accuracy.
  • Data read from an imported reference: focal length, ISO and exposure time, and the position if the photo carries one and Android passes it on with the photo you picked.
  • Alignment data: the anchor points you set, and for each frame its alignment scores and its calculated shift against the reference, from which the stabilised video is made.
  • The reference check: the measurements of the reference quality check (tilt, clipping, brightness, sharpness, amount of detail) and its result.
  • Reminders: the repeat and the time you chose for a project, and when the next reminder is due.

Your settings (Simple or Pro, theme, home layout, capture format and quality and the like) and the language you chose for the app are stored on the device as well.

What is only processed

While a camera screen is open, the app analyses the live camera picture on the device to work out the alignment score, the histogram, the sharpness warning and the reference check. These pictures are held in memory for the calculation and are not saved. Only the photos you take are kept. A photo you pick as a pose guide ("From photo…") is turned into an outline in memory and is not saved either.

Temporary files

Exports and backups use working files in the app's cache. The working files of a video export and of a backup import are deleted when the job is done. A backup ZIP that you export stays in the cache after you have shared it, until Android clears the cache or you do (Settings > Apps > MyReFrame > Storage > Clear cache).

What the app does not ask for

  • No personal information: We do not collect names, e-mail addresses, contacts or anything else that identifies you.
  • No account required: The app has no registration and no login.

What leaves your device

The app itself sends nothing over a network. These are the ways your data can leave the device:

  • Android backup. If backup is turned on in your device's settings, Android includes MyReFrame's database and settings in the backup of your device to your Google account, and in a transfer to a new device. That copy holds the project data listed above, with project names, notes and positions. The photos are not part of it: they lie in the gallery, outside the app's own storage. The app excludes nothing from this backup. Backup is switched on and off in your device's settings.
  • Share photo. Sharing a frame hands the photo file, as it is stored and with the data embedded in it, to the app you choose in Android's share sheet.
  • Export backup. Exporting a project builds a ZIP file with the project's photos and a file backup.json with the project's data: its name, your notes and ratings, the anchor points, the alignment data and the capture data, which includes the positions and the direction of the phone. The positions are in the ZIP even when "Strip metadata from captures" is on. The ZIP is handed to the app you choose in the share sheet.
  • Navigate to location. The button on a project's location card hands the coordinates of the reference photo to Google Maps. If Google Maps is not installed, it opens maps.google.com with the coordinates in your browser.

The last three happen only when you start them. What becomes of a file or of coordinates afterwards is governed by the app or service you sent them to.

Permissions and what they are used for

  • Camera: to show the live view and to take the reference photo and the frames. The app cannot be used without it.
  • Location (precise or approximate): optional. The app asks for it on the camera screens, after the camera permission. If you allow it, the app asks for the device's current position each time you take a photo in the app and stores it with that frame in its database. It also asks for the current position once when you open a project whose reference has a position, to show how far away the spot is and in which direction; that reading is not stored. Positions are used on the device only: for the location card, for golden-hour reminders and for the "best light" time on the camera screen. Without the permission the app works, but a project whose reference has no position offers none of the three.
  • Notifications (Android 13 and newer): optional. The app asks the first time you save a capture reminder. Reminders are created on the device. A reminder shows the project's name and a small picture of its reference.
  • Vibration: a short vibration when the alignment score reaches 85 %.
  • Run at startup: after a restart of the phone, after an update of the app and after a change of the clock or the time zone, the app sets your reminders again. It does nothing else then.
  • Prevent the phone from sleeping, run a foreground service, view network connections: these three come with the Android library that runs a reminder in the background. The first two let a due reminder be prepared while the phone is idle; on Android 10 and 11 this runs for a moment as a foreground service. The third is declared by the library; MyReFrame's reminders do not wait for a network, and without the internet permission the app could not use one.

The app asks for no permission to read your photos. It reaches its own pictures through Android's media store, and a photo or a backup file from elsewhere only when you pick it in Android's file picker.

Third-party services

MyReFrame contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting and no tracking, and it has no user accounts and no purchases. We do not send information to third parties.

The position comes from Google Play services on your device (its "fused location provider"), the usual way for an Android app to ask where the device is. Google Play services is not part of MyReFrame. How it finds the position, and what it may send to Google while doing so, depends on the location settings of your device and is covered by Google's privacy policy.

The open-source software the app is built with, for example OpenCV for the image analysis, runs inside the app on your device. It is listed in the app under "Open source licenses".

Children's privacy

MyReFrame is a general-purpose photography tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or from any other user.

Data deletion

In the app:

  • A frame: the trash icon on a frame removes that photo, its preview and its data.
  • A project: long-press a project on the home screen, or use the list of projects in Settings, and choose Delete. This removes the project's data, its reference photo and frames with their previews, and its reminder. Exported GIFs, videos and side-by-side pictures, and backup ZIPs you saved elsewhere, are not removed; delete them in your gallery or file manager.
  • A reminder: the bell icon of a project lets you turn it off.

On the device:

  • Clear data: Settings > Apps > MyReFrame > Storage > Clear storage removes the app's database, settings and cache. Your projects are then gone from the app. The photos stay in the gallery.
  • Uninstall: removes the same. Photos and exports in Pictures/MyReFrame and Movies/MyReFrame stay on the device until you delete them.

If Android backup is turned on, the backed-up copy is managed through your device's backup settings. To keep a project before you clear the app's data or uninstall the app, export it as a backup first.

Because your data does not reach us, you are in direct control of it on your device. If you are in the European Union or the EEA, you keep your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR); as we do not process your personal data on any system of ours, there is no data on our side for us to hold, correct or delete.
