Introduction
Enlyzr ("we", "our", or "us") provides MyFastNote, a note app for Android. This Privacy Policy explains what the app stores, where it is kept, and what can leave your device.
In short: your notes stay on your device. The app has no permission to use the internet, so by itself it cannot send anything to us or to anyone else. A note leaves the app only when you send it somewhere yourself: by sharing it, by exporting it, or by choosing a backup folder.
Information the app stores
Everything the app stores is kept on your device, in the app's own storage:
- Your notes: the text of each note, the time it was written and the time it was last changed, the time zone your device was set to when you wrote it, its colour and bold mark, and whether its time is shown. The app also keeps a search index of the note texts, so that search can find them.
- A note on its way in: a note you have just typed is first written to a small file and moved into the notes database a moment later. The file is then deleted.
- Deleted notes: a note you delete is moved to the trash and kept there for 30 days, so that you can get it back. After that it is removed the next time you open the app.
- Settings: the choices you make in Settings, such as the pause after which a new note starts, the text size, the names you give the colours, your own text for the widget, the language, whether the lock is on, and the address of the backup folder with the time of the last backup. The app also remembers when you last left its main screen, so that it can mark the notes that arrived since then.
- No personal information: we do not collect names, email addresses, contacts, location, or anything else that identifies you. What you write in your notes is not sent to us and we cannot read it.
- No account required: the app has no registration and no login.
If you turn on "Lock the notes", the app asks Android to check your fingerprint or your screen lock before it shows your notes, and keeps its main screen out of screenshots and out of the list of recent apps. The lock does not encrypt the stored notes, and it does not cover backup and export files.
What leaves your device
The app does not ask for permission to use the internet, and it contains no code that connects to a server. It cannot send your notes, or anything else, to us. Notes leave the app only in the ways listed here, and each of them is something you do or turn on yourself.
- Backup folder: if you choose a backup folder in Settings, the app writes all your notes there as one plain text (Markdown) file and keeps up to five dated copies beside it. It does this when you choose the folder, when you leave the app (at most once an hour), when you tap "Back up now", and before "Delete all notes". You pick the folder in Android's folder picker, and Android gives the app access to that folder only. In it the app looks at the file names, writes its backup files, and deletes older files whose names begin with "MyFastNote-" and end with ".md"; it opens no other file. If the folder belongs to another app, such as a cloud storage app, that app receives the files and its own privacy policy applies. Without a folder there is no automatic backup.
- Export: "Export everything", "Export a date range" and the export of selected notes write a Markdown file to the place you choose in Android's file picker.
- Share and copy: "Share" hands the text of the notes you picked to the app you choose in Android's share sheet. "Copy" puts it on the clipboard.
- Links: when you tap a web address, an email address, a phone number or a date in a note, the app passes it to your browser, your mail app, the dialer or your calendar app, which opens it.
- Dictation: the microphone on the widget and the "Dictate a note" shortcut start the speech recognition that is installed on your device, for example the one from Google. That service listens and turns your speech into text. The app receives only the text and saves it as a note; it tells the service which language you chose for the app, if you chose one. The app itself has no permission to use the microphone and records no sound. How the speech service handles your voice is described in that service's own privacy policy.
- Text from other apps: when you share text to MyFastNote from another app, or select text and choose MyFastNote, the app receives that text and puts it into the writing field. It is saved as a note when you leave the field.
- Home screen and lock screen: the widget shows the date and one line of text. If you choose "Last note" in Settings, that line is the first line of your newest note, and anyone who sees your home screen can read it. With the lock turned on the widget does not show it. The optional notification for quick notes carries no note text.
- Android backup: the app's backup rules leave the notes database and the settings out of the backup that Android makes to your Google account. What the rules do not leave out is small: on Android 12 and older, the language you chose for the app; and a note that had been typed but not yet moved into the notes database when the app was stopped, until you next open the app. If you move to a new phone with Android's direct transfer from phone to phone, on Android 12 and later the notes and settings are copied to the new phone.
Permissions
- Notifications: on Android 13 and later the app asks for this when you turn on "Persistent notification for quick capture". The notification lets you type a note without opening the app.
- Run at startup: a notification does not survive a restart of the device, so the app puts its quick-note notification back after one. It uses this permission for nothing else.
- Biometrics: used only for "Lock the notes". Android itself checks your fingerprint or face, or your PIN, pattern or password, and tells the app only whether the check succeeded. The app never sees or stores any of them.
The app asks for no other permission: no internet, no microphone, no storage, no contacts and no location.
Third-party services
MyFastNote does not integrate any third-party advertising, analytics, crash reporting or tracking service, and it has no purchases and no user accounts. The other apps and services named above (a cloud storage app that holds your backup folder, an app you share a note with, the speech recognition on your device, Android's own backup) take part only when you use them, and each has its own privacy policy.
Children's privacy
MyFastNote is a general note app and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or from any other user: the app sends us nothing.
Data deletion
In the app you can:
- Delete a single note, by swiping it to the left or with "Delete" in its menu. It goes to the trash in Settings, where "Delete forever" and "Empty trash" remove it at once; otherwise it is removed after 30 days.
- Delete everything with "Delete all notes" in Settings. This removes all notes and the trash from your device. If a backup folder is set, the app first writes one more backup there.
You can remove all of the app's data, the settings included, by:
- Clearing the app's data through your device's Settings > Apps > MyFastNote > Clear Data
- Uninstalling the application from your device
Backup and export files are ordinary files outside the app. None of these steps removes them: delete them yourself in the folder where they were saved. The same holds for anything you shared with another app.
